ACER reveal their new Swift 7 which is now officially the thinnest laptop ever.

Acer has just unveiled its new Swift 7 computer at the IFA tech show in Berlin and it's just 9.98mm thin.

That's a whole 0.3cm thinner than Apple's awesome MacBook. However, don't be fooled into thinking slim means poor perfomance as this device packs quite a punch.

When it launches later this year users will be treated to a 13.3in and brand new Intel 7th generation core i5 'Kaby Lake' processor. Tucked inside the metal body you'll also find 8GB of RAM and 256GB of SSD storage, meaning the Swift 7 is no slouch when it comes to speed, and there's also are two USB-C 3.1 ports, including one used for charging, and a headphone port.

As mentioned, the Acer Swift 7 comes with a 13.3in Full HD IPS display, putting it on a level with similarly thin devices such as the HP Spectre - although its gold and black colour scheme does draw the eye much like its competitor.

This helps run the device using some clever passive cooling technology, as thanks to the super-slim build the entire device is fanless.

Acer reckons that you can get up to nine hours of power using the Swift 7, thanks to Intel's improvements in chip speed, meaning it should easily last you a full day's usage.

The Swift 7 will launch in Europe in October for £1,299. “We are thrilled to announce the new Swift series, a complete ultra- thin laptop lineup with something for everyone,” said Jerry Hou, General Manager, Consumer Notebooks, IT Products Business, Acer Inc.

“Front and centre is the flagship Swift 7 with an all-aluminium chassis that’s less than one centimetre thin, while still packing in performance and stamina for all-day productivity.
